07 Sep Dar Loughat Granada becomes the first official MSA Arabic exam center in Spain
In April 2018, The Arab World Institute (Institute du Monde Arabe) selected Dar Loughat to be the first examination center in Spain to deliver the Official Certificate for Modern Standard Arabic.
The Institute du Monde Arabe, was founded in Paris in 1980 by 18 Arab countries of the Arab League, together with the French Government, in order to research and provide secular information about Arabic civilizations, promote exhibitions about their diverse cultures and their arts in general. In an impressive headquarters by the Seine, designed by iconic architect, Jean Nouvel, the institution contains a museum, an excellent library, auditorium, offices and several meeting rooms as well as a restaurant, with spectacular views over Paris and the Seine river.
One of the goals of the Institute was to introduce recognizable general standards for MSA (Modern Standard Arabic) worldwide. A pilot project to introduce an Official Certificate for Modern Standard Arabic was prepared and examinations scheduled for 2018. They took place on 5 July, 2018 in 6 countries simultaneously: Egypt, France, Jordan, Morocco, Spain and Switzerland. Due to our serious commitment to the teaching of Arabic within Europe, Dar Loughat Granada was chosen to become the first and only authorized AWI exam center in Spain.
The International Certification of Proficiency in Arabic (CIMA) examination includes a listening comprehension test, a reading comprehension test, a writing test and a speaking test. The students who applied to sit the test with Dar Loughat Granada had different motivations for achieving their goals. But it is certain having this certification in Arabic proficiency will assist them in their future careers.
